Diabetics at Village Inn

Village Inn is a tough place for diabetics, and you must be extra cautious while ordering food at the Village Inn, especially if you're a diabetic. The food items low in sodium are high in sugar or cholesterol at Village Inn which makes it difficult for diabetics to choose the right food at the diner.

Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for Diabetics

Village Inn offers very few items edible for diabetics without any threat. You can avoid sandwiches and burgers at Village Inn and try the light breakfast items on the menu. You must also skip the shakes as well as other juices from the beverage menu. Almost all the dinner items on the menu are high in sodium except Grilled Tilapia and 6 oz. Top Sirloin & Toast. Avoid Soup bowls and opt for cups instead at Village Inn.

Ok, so its a Village Inn you know what you're in for. BUT I was there with a friend, and it was late. My friend and I in our weariness didn't notice the operating hours, as we were in from out-of-town and back home our Village Inn's are open almost 24-hours. After finishing our meal and desperately craning our necks around looking for our waitress so we could order some pie, we flagged the hostess/manager. We asked if she could send our waitress for said pie order. The manager/hostess (I wish to god I could remember her name) very directly said "Actually the restaurant closed 30 minutes ago, and your waitress is busy doing her closing work...I would be happy to get you some pie to go." My friend and I had NO IDEA (because we weren't paying attention) that we had walked in for full table service about 5-minutes before the joint closed. Being a veteran of plenty of thankless jobs, and the nature of thankless jobs in America I absolutely applaud my treatment at this location of a large national chain. Some people would have seen the manager's treatment of me as rude or un-hospitable. Some others would have gone so far as to leave a bad review on this very site or one like it. I, however support that manger standing up for herself and for her staff. The pie we had to go was also delicious, and its taste wasn't diminished at all by being eaten in my hotel room instead of in the actual diner.

The staff is very friendly and seems to really care and the food is a bit better than a Denny's but were talking F+ vs. F when it come to the kitchen. Unfortunately, this is about as good as it gets for non fast food chain in Craig Co.

Just what you would expect from a village inn. Quick breakfast food, good service, no complaints here.

Had a late lunch/early dinner. Service was great, food was very good, fresh and served pretty quickly. The pie is the highlight, take some to go if you don't want to eat it right after dinner.

Waitress seemed to be preoccupied. I ordered the chicken fried steak, with mashed potatoes and gravy and stuffing. Biscuit was supposed to be part of it . It never came. Stuffing was iced cold. When I told her. She didn't seem to care. Well no more coming to this place.

Typical VI. It was crowded when we stopped. Convenient for a food stop on the drive from Denver to mountain areas. Order accuracy seems hit or miss. Friendly manager. This is one of those "it is what it is" type places. Al in all, if you are driving on I-70 and get hungry around the Glenwood Springs area, this is a good place to stop.

We were on our Honeymoon and decided to have breakfast there (830AM Saturday) The place was not to full and we asked for a both and the hostess said "how about a "half" booth as that is all i have available" We really wanted a booth, but said ok. After the hostess seated us, she then seat 3 other couples in regular booths that were empty when we got there. That was not nice. So our waitress comes over to take our order and leave in the middle of taking a order to help at another table. Come on now... So later the waitress comes back to our table and takes the order. My other half orders eggs and is always specific when he orders. Well, we get the food and his eggs are not what he ordered. Needless to say, this is a typical Village Inn, and although they have remodeled, nothing really has changed. A Waffle House would have been better.

When traveling, I try to avoid chains, but this chain isn't near my neck of the woods. So I wanted to experience a Village Inn for the first time. This place is similar to a Dennys or Frisches, of course. These places are a gamble sometime. They usually have a good turnover of employees. It can be great or it can be pretty bad. Well, I liked it. I must've hit it just right. My party of four stopped in for dinner during a Colorado vacation. The menu was fully loaded and I especially liked The ton of breakfast entrees (I always get breakfast for dinner when I can!). The service was not spectacular, but it was good. If I have the opportunity to visit Glenwood Springs again, I'll remember my good experience here and I'm certain I'll take another crack at this place.

I travel all over the US and have had many tasty pancakes and a few bad ones, but this place by far has the worst pancakes I have ever had, and the rest of the food is mediocre, the people are nice though

First day went for lunch - it was great. Just finished breakfast - it was awful. The over easy eggs were hard, hot tea water lukewarm, the ham "died in disgust"!!! Pretty hard to mess up that bad, but they did it. Cashier/host, looked and acted like he would have been more comfortable and at home in the kitchen washing dishes!!

If you looking for a quick bite, this is it. Just don't expect great food or service. Our waiter seemed pre occupied with discussing his personal business with some friends that had dropped in. And our food was editable but nothing spectacular, but that's nothing out of the ordinary for a Village Inn.

Wait time can be long but the management is good they made a huge discount to our bill yet the food was usual vi style

Ate here after 10pm after soaking in the springs. Food was good but service was lacking. It's nice that they're open late but the staff was strange.

We went here without high hopes after searching for another breakfast place and needing something quick and family friendly. We were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is updated and very clean. The food was good and the staff is very friendly and attentive. Yes, it's still VI and nothing gourmet but a perfect breakfast place for the basics done well. We will be back the next time we're in GWS.

Why did I even eat there. Food so bad you can't even digest it. Service was bad . Manager had to argue with waitress to serve our table. Wtf

5 stars for a Village Inn? I know. Very skeptical and likely a "bought" review but not the case here. I stopped in here to grab a quick desert for the hotel room family and the staff couldn't be nicer and the pie and ice cream were fantastic. The next morn and after our experience at Daily Bread day before we decided to shoot for Village Inn for bfast (out of options). GLAD WE DID! The whole family had a great bfast with outstanding and friendly service for the last 2 mornings we were here. It's also newly remodeled and clean. Never in my life thought I'd spend time reviewing a Village Inn, much less 5 stars, but here ya go. Credit where credit is due.

This Village Inn needs more lovin' -- they recently(?) remodeled, and it looks fantastic! I came here by accident during a road-trip, and I was looking for a pit stop and gas station. This diner (apparently a chain) is located conveniently off the freeway and has very accessible parking. From the outside, it looks like an ancient complex, and at first, I even thought it was a motel/inn. But the interior was sparking-new, modern, bright, and welcoming! The food is typical of most diners. Think Denny's meets Marie Callenders... because they have some fiiiine PIES! I ordered a lunch combo, which included a strawberry salad and grilled cheese sandwich. I finished off my lunch with a slice of their delectable coconut cream pie. If you come here, you MUST try the pie. The only con was the extremely long WAIT-TIME. It must have taken 30 minutes for our meals to come out, and we had both ordered basic dishes. It's irritating to lose an hour of a long drive, just for lunch. Overall, I recommend "VI", but just be sure to tell them if you're in a rush!

Nothing wrong with this Village inn. The Staff is always great each time Ive been in. Whether to sit down for a full meal or just grab a slice of pie to eat back at the Hotel. I never had an order messed up. The Food Has always been delicious and of Village Inn quality. The Prices are cheaper then some Local Establishments. You get what you pay for as well.

With its new super-hip interior design this chain restaurant is now the hippest nighttime-spot-for-breakfast in Glenwood Springs. Highly recommend a $3 side order of their fantastic Buttermilk Pancakes (and then order some more if you're still hungry. They are sooo good. Excellent service by Allen and super clean inside. I'll always visit this Village Inn in Glenwood Springs! Great value!!!!

Opened at 6am, and I think our group of 14 were let in at 5:55am. You definitely earn your stars there. We were the first people there and ordered, ate, and paid by 6:45. Not bad for a large group first thing in the morning. Easy access right off the highway, and good food to fuel you for the day. Although we didn't do this- I have heard you can place an order in advance the night before to pick it up in the morning. So if you know you will be on a time crunch this may be something to think about. -Very clean -Looks to be newly renovated -Awesome wait staff -Fast -Hot food

After waiting to be seated (about 5 minutes no one else waiting, plenty of empty tables) we were seated and then waited another 5 minutes for server to arrive. She took our drink order and came back quickly with our drinks, so we went ahead and ordered food. We all got the build your own breakfast. We waited about 10-15 mins for our food and none of it was hot. It wasn't even warm! Do not waste your money!

I've only been to Village Inn for breakfast and there's nothing wrong with it here. In fact, breakfast isn't bad. I'd give it a 2.5. Service is quick. Servers are nice. It's a place you bring the family for a breakfast, very similar to Denny's. In fact, you could imagine you're in Denny's and wouldn't be too far off. Bacon tastes like it's microwaved here, too. The difference is the pies are much better at the Village Inn. Other than breakfast, I'd avoid this place, unless you're a fan of low grade food.

This place gets 1 star for the food and 1 star for being open past 10 pm. My wife finished soaking in the hot springs, showered and decided to try to find some food right at 10 pm. We went to Big Daddy's Bar and Grill first since they claimed to be open to midnight. They are, but their kitchen isn't. We tried one other place which was also open, but with a closed kitchen. Thankfully, the Village Inn was still open until 11 pm, just enough time to swing in for a quick bite to eat. I ordered the All American burger cooked medium rare, added mushrooms and 2 onions rings to it, with fries for a side. The fries were cold and soggy, and the only heat the burger had seen in the past few hours was a microwave. It had definitely been cooked long ago to a dry consistency. My wife had the French Dip which tasted like it had a pound of salt in the dip and on the sandwich itself. It was incredibly salty before being dipped and near inedible after being dipped. The service was extremely fast, although I'm sure part of that was them wanting to get us out of there. I can hardly fault them for that. Overall I give it two stars, being simultaneously grateful that they were open past 10 as well as being sad that I had to eat there.

Breakfast is as breakfast does I suppose. Our server was great but the food lacked authenticity and originality. The flatbread sandwich my girlfriend ordered was soggy and almost impossible to hold. My skillet was good; it didn't blow me away but it was good. On the shorter side of average. The potatoes weren't as crispy as they could've been would be my only criticism. For $10 a plate, a little more effort could be made in the kitchen.

Fast and friendly, this place is busy and the staff is on top of it, my burger is great although they only have me five onion rings with my orders. All in all its worth the stop.

We eat here a lot. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and the restaurant is very clean and inviting. It is typical Village Inn food. Decent, but not too fancy. I've eaten at other Villiage Inns and I think this is one of their better ones.

THE ONLY REASON IVE GIVEN 1 STAR...IS YELP WILL NOT LET ME POST WITHOUT ATLEAST 1 STAR! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! Granted it is a tourist town so you would think its gonna be good food. The decor is horribly outdated. Its actually kinda creepy...like THE SHINING creepy. My husbands steak was waaaaay overcooked, his salad was brown and wilted and even his broccoli was brown. My omelet was rubbery and the avocado was obviously previously frozen. We had been traveling all day so we just took it all in stride. My food was ice cold and I never got the additional item I asked for. Our drinks were never refilled. Our server was polite but literally ignored us once we got our food. He served tables all around us...just NOT us. We watched a young couple come in...be seated...and sat there for 15 minutes...THEN AFTER BEING IGNORED THEY LEFT! Noone tried to stop them not even the hostess...she actually watched them leave. Noone seemed worried...other servers just stood behind a partition and watched the couple leave. BAD...VERY BAD SERVICE! I WILL BE GIVING NEGATIVE 5 STARS!

For the traveler that is passing through into Utah or going to Denver, this venue is pretty decent eating. The quality of the food met my expectations, the quantity of it was okay, and the customer service was decent considering how busy this location is. The Village Inn is a chain restaurant and is in many states, and the menu + customer service has been very consistent in my experience. If I had one recommendation, it would be to try their specialty pancakes, such as the wheat.

Absolutely filthy nasty and the food was less than mediocre!
